The Fulbright Specialist Program is intended for Slovak institutions to host U.S. faculty members, professionals and artists for 2 to 6 weeks to serve as expert consultants on curriculum and materials, faculty development, institutional planning, deliver seminars and workshops, conferences or symposiums and lectures. The Fulbright Specialist Program is not designed for individual research projects. The number of specialists that can be accepted is currently limited to five project visits for Slovakia.
Fulbright Specialists are a diverse group of highly experienced, well-established faculty members and professionals who represent a wide variety of academic disciplines and professions. Institutions must fill out an online application on the: Fulbright Specialist Portal.
Institutions can apply for an open project (with no specific named Fulbright Specialist) or a named project (with a specific individual that would be invited to serve as a specialist identified in the proposal). U.S. academics should register as part of the Fulbright Specialist Roster.
Institutions applying for a multi-visit project must provide strong justification for why more than one visit is necessary to achieve project outcomes (multi-visit projects should be completed within 12 months and not exceed 42 days in total)
The length of stay is a minimum of 14 days and a maximum of 42 days (including travel days and weekends).

The Commission accepts project proposals throughout the year on a rolling basis. Host institutions should bear in mind that they need to apply in advance. In the case of a named application, the entire application process and administration usually takes 3 to 4 months. In the case of an open application, it is usually 6 months. It is strongly recommended to advise potential visiting U.S. scholars to register as part of the Fulbright Specialist Roster
